    New Footprints have arrived!

Joahuejamesvieirafeetweb A few weeks ago the world made room for new life at precisely 9:01 PM, October 28, 2007. His name is Joshua James Vieira and he comes complete with all the tools to make his way across the planet, all in due time. He is also my grandson, blessing number four.

What is it about newborn toes and fingers that seem to hold the essence, hope and wonder of all of live itself? I held this little wonder, fresh from my daughter's womb, even as his primary goal was to wiggle, suckle and sleep.

Ah, but the photographer in me was itching just as much to capture these early moments that seem to roll on by too quickly. Little feet, barely dry even, outstretched, moving, just because they can!

    Reflection on Quaker Process

Quakerbench I've been a Friend now for over thirty years, so perhaps it's okay for me to speak my mind a bit on something.

The NEYM New England Friend came in several weeks ago, with much of if focusing on what didn't get done at NEYM Sessions in August. Seems the whole piece on the FUM Personnel Policy, after what, two years of seeking "clarity," on how to move foreword,  ended up producing nothing more than another committee? That's right, another committee to look at yet another piece of business that we didn't get finalized.

Come to think of it, I'm a little hard pressed to remember the last time that New England Quakers actually made a clear, definitive decision on any major piece of business or concern before them. seems we're very good at holding this or that "concern" up to the Light for prayer, consideration or action, but not very good at saying "Yea" or "Nay" and then moving on. Just my thoughts, that's all. Your comments are appreciated, too!

Finally, "News From An Acorn" speaks!

Welcome to "News from an Acorn!" Some of you know that I build and maintain several sites and blogs for other worthy non-profits, etc. This site, however, is devoted to how the Spirit moves, lives and nudges me onward day by day. Some of what comes will be reflective, spiritual and commentary in nature. And yes, frequently my photos will lead the way as well. Hope that you enjoy the visit and will leave a comment of your own.
